Billing Practices

Work is billed for labor time plus materials.

Labor includes:

  • Materials acquisition
  • Customer-scoped specialized research
  • Problem solving
  • Planning
  • Coordination between involved parties that falls within my limited legal scope

For straightforward jobs, I waive the first 30 minutes of material pickup before the appointment. There's no labor charge for materials picked up during lunch or without a dedicated trip.

In general I make it a policy to try and save my customers time, money and grief.

Changes in Scope

  • Stopping condition: Significant changes in scope, cost, or approach require work to pause until the options, potential costs, and risks have been discussed and approved by the customer.
  • Professional discretion: Minor adjustments may be made when necessary to complete the agreed work safely, properly, or to prevent damage. This discretion is limited to adjustments that do not significantly change the scope, cost, or intended outcome.

Cancellations

  • Active communication is appreciated.
  • If you need to cancel, please try to let me know a few days before the appointment.
  • I appreciate your consideration towards my time and energy.

Payment

  • Payment due: Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice.
  • Grace period: A 24-hour grace period is provided before payment reminders begin.
  • Payment reminders: Unpaid invoices are resent every few days.
